hello! im shu hui from DCHE/FT/2A/06!
in this blog, ill be sharing what i've learnt so far for the past 3 weeks and find it pretty chill (except the fact that we have tons of CA parts to do)..
week 1:
after brief introduction and module objectives (incl lesson plan & assessment given), im kinda excited only for the practical parts :/ we formed our icpd group and went off with team building activities
i find the tuckerman's team formation model to be incredibly beneficial when it comes to team development, it acknowlegdes the fact that each team has to go thru' different stages and how to improve together.. this model serves as a valuable tool in fostering team cohesion for new teams who are new to one another.
next, chemical classification, there are four categories - commodities, molecular products, micro-structured products and chemical devices, they are grouped base on their properties, hazards and specific usage.
aft that, we have to choose a broad category, followed by sub-categories and thnk of one chemical product, which is hair dryer, simple right :) but hair dryer is under which classification?
week 2:
not much activities done, but mainly lecture.
my lecturer explained to us what are pain points. giving an e.g. of what i understood.... it is complcated user interface for controlling its function. if a device used for mixing chemicals has a confusing interface, this could lead to mixing wrong ratio becos the user can't control the function well, and a higher chance of replacing the device for better quality..
we've started on our CA, and we have to think of something to fix it :( haissss..... daily problems.. how to choose when there are so many of em in life.. some problems we wanna resolve are being indecisive in life and too tired to hold an umbrella.. i think these two are pretty serious
i also learnt that literature review is crucial in any research/ academic work. it helps to gain knowledge on a particular topic and provide a foundation for the research.
week 3:
one technique i learnt this week is SCAMPER, its a great tool to generate new ideas and solving problems in a more innovative way. it's applicable to different situations and achieve goals and objectives more effectively. YAY! lemme show u a pic 🤩
my lecturer showed us a video and i find it cute (cos i cant draw) this video's kinda useful for me to understand better on SCAMPER...
it helps with bringing out one's creativity and generating different perspective, it also helps to break fixed thinking & encourage innnovative ideas. it helps my team in brainstorming or finding alternative solutions to challenges.
not only SCAMPER that is useful, idea screening process in an important step to determine the feasibility for production. it helps to avoid wasting time, effort and resources on ideas that are not helpful to the objetives set.
ive also learnt that COWS enhances its effectiveness and utility when we have new solutions to problems. after applying COWS, we can have a highlight of which holds a greater significant not only to be relevant and feasible but also important and good quality of the entire purpose. However, one problem faced while using this might be, what if two of the ideas have the exact evaluation... how do we choose..?
